Thank you Sourcecon!

We just got back from Sourcecon in Austin TX, and had a blast while there. Sourcecon hits the perfect balance between niche and commercial focus in a conference. It was fantastic to meet so many of our users, demo new products with them and give them a say in future product updates.

Anyone working in or around the HR space ought to check out Sourcecon and attend one of their events. We rarely endorse conferences publicly and this one really cuts through the noise.

"What was special was seeing so many recruiters and sourcers walking around, voracious and looking to hone their craft in the sourcing space."

What is Sourcecon?

It is a conference that invites an eclectic mix of sourcers, recruiters and technologists to provide knowledge sharing and insights about sourcing best practices. The nice thing about it is that it was started by sourcers and stays true to the practice. Instead of being turned off (or even scared) by upcoming technological advances in the HR space, Sourcecon was quick to invite new companies to learn from, teach, and develop interesting projects with.

The folks behind Sourcecon found us a year ago and included us in a few presentations. This year, we were invited to take part in the Innovation Lab- shoulder to shoulder with some of the most interesting startups in the industry. Between manning the table there and talking to recruiters, we got to see a few talks, all of which were forward-thinking and focused on sharing best practices. The venue, setup, design was in no way special. What was special was seeing so many recruiters and sourcers walking around, voracious and looking to hone their craft in the sourcing space.

Why was it Special?

The real value of a conference is not what is on the agenda, it is the serendipity that results from interactions with other attendees. Our purpose for being there was to meet some of our existing users and partners in person and to test out a few projects we are working on. In the process of doing so, we met a whole bunch of people that had previously been on our radar. We had the chance to sit down with a couple of fine folks, informally talk through ideas (likely and unlikely ones) and set some time aside to focus on collaborating together.

"The real value in conferences is not what is on the agenda, it is the serendipity that results from interactions with other attendees."

The verdict is out!

Anyone in the HR space has to attend at least one of Sourcecon's many events. We had a blast this year and can't wait to take part in other ERE conferences down the line. Shoutout to the folks behind it: Shannon & the ERE crew.
